 "First I'd like to say there is a misprint in the shipping time...it's more like 1 to 2 weeks. This book makes a great gift for a wedding shower coupled with maybe a few kitchen items, or basic pantry products.

She has covered everything...from pantry items to keep on hand, substitutions that can be made, advice to help save money in the kitchen,and party ideas when you want to have a few friends over. There are menu suggestions, and basic how-to's for the inexperienced cook such as how to hard boil an egg, or how to remove onion odor from your hands.

Have an ingredient you want to use up? Check out her list of ingredients that direct you to recipes using that item. There is a section on terms we come across in recipes, that an inexperienced cook may not know such as "Al Dente".

Included at the back of the book are both traditional as well as modern gift ideas for anniversaries, as well as traditional flowers for each anniversary.

All this plus quick, easy, tasty, inexpensive recipes! Great 1st cookbook!"

"First off, coming from someone who does not have much knowledge in the kitchen... This was probably the smartest idea ever! I think this book will not only help newlyweds, but for anyone unfamiliar with the kitchen, unfamiliar how to cook for 2 (or more), college students, empty-nesters, those who don't have a huge grocery budget... this cookbook will totally help you! I'm not a big fan of being in the kitchen, I'm more of a "on-the-run, pop my dinner in the microwave for 4-minutes, and I'm done" kinda girl. But this cookbook has come into use more than I thought it would! I LOVE how the author includes what each spice does; for example, flaxseed. I'm putting that in EVERYTHING! I LOVE how she includes pictures throughout the cookbook, it makes it more personal, and you really feel like you get to see her and her husband experience their first year together.

Secondly, how easy is it now to buy one of these books, throw it in a basket with a few kitchen utensils, and you have yourself a bridal shower gift or wedding gift! I've "gifted" this book a few times already! Being in the event/wedding industry, I thought it was a cute and informative extra touch that she included the anniversary traditions in the back of the book. I really enjoyed that part, and think it was really relevant to the consumers purchasing this book (given that it's targeted mainly to newlyweds). I've been passing her business cards out everywhere and telling everyone to visit her website! I've been telling my clients, and vendors all about her and her cookbook. I think it's a cost effective investment, for cost effective recipes! =)

I am really looking forward to see what the author comes up with next!"

"I hate to say it, but I must say thanks to my mother-in-law of all people for giving me this cookbook "Our First Year: Cost Effective Recipes From the Home of Newlyweds" as a wedding gift a few months ago. My husband and I were definitely the TV Dinner type of people. The How To section helped us out with a few things we didn't know how to do and the recipes are delicious and easy to make. We love taking the leftovers with us to work the next day. So not only are the recipes helping us save money on our low budget, but now we have lunch for the next day and don't have to buy fast food everyday. My mother-in-law purchased the book off the website www.a_sugarnspice_life.com (which is really cute by the way).

I definitely recommend it to everyone, but especially those with a small budget or new to cooking."
